“If someone made good sofas, they would be easy to sell…”
“I’ll start making them myself, and you’ll start selling them.”
So in the early 50s, the founder of Lepo Aake Anttila submitted a business idea to his son-in-law Pentti Roitto. This is where the story of the Finnish company Lepo, another of our partners, began.
Chairs, armchairs, and poufs were subsequently added to the sofas, forming a complete collection of seating furniture. The company’s assortment throughout its history consisted of ergonomic and elaborate models.
Lepo’s own production facility located in the suburbs of Lahti, Finland, guarantees flexible solutions and a quick response to both specific customer requests and the requirements of the market. In the current age of globalization and the relocation of production by many companies to countries with cheap labor, Lepo does not compromise on its moral principles. “We want to keep product design and production in Finland in the future”.
Speaking of design, it is impossible not to mention the timeless style of Lepo furniture. This is not surprising, because the creation of the first Lepo collection was carried out by the coryphaeus of Finnish design, Professor Yrjö Kukkapuro, whose style can be characterized by the words: ergonomics, ecology, and aesthetics. One of his most famous collections is the Moderno series, which has been in the Lepo range for over 65 years. The Polar armchair and sofa models, created by interior architect Esko Pajamies in 1965, returned to the Lepo range last year. Kaarle Holmberg, Tapio Anttila and other masters of Finnish design also contributed to the development of the collection.
Important features of all Lepo models are the user-oriented design and the ability to combine models with each other. The entire collection bears the Avainlippu (Key Flag) and Design from Finland labels, which demonstrate the values of family business, Finnish production and Nordic design.
